Mama G Foods has its roots in a small catering business founded in Lartebiokorshie, Accra, between 1993 and 1998. Serving various events and organizations, the business evolved in the early 2000s when owner Hanah Ganyo began producing hot sauces (shito) to supplement income and support her six children as a single mother.

The uncompromising quality and unique taste of Mama G's hot sauces, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, quickly gained popularity. Local supermarkets began demanding more of the product, recognizing its superior flavor. This early success laid the foundation for the brand's reputation.

Today, Mama G Foods is undergoing an exciting transformation. The business is rebranding as simply "Mama G" and expanding its offerings. The "G" in the name is a testament to Hanah Ganyo's culinary expertise and the affectionate title "Mama General" bestowed upon her by those who know her for her skilled ability to cook.
